This is how we treat our visitors. All participants in Sristi '11 will be treated in a friendly manner. In return they will be charged a nominal registration fee of Rs. 250 (Rs. 50 refundable being the security deposit) which includes lodging along with bedding kits and other kits. Food at canteens as well as touring facilities will also be available with additional charges.

Participants will be received from the nearby railway stations [Jalpaiguri Roads (JPE), Jalpaiguri Town (JPG)] on 07/09/2011 and 08/09/2011.

The Geography

Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College is located squarely in the middle of the "chicken's neck" covering a land of 160 acres, 42 kilometres East of the business town of Siliguri.

Famous Darjeeling Town is only three hours drive from the college campus. Kalimpong, Lava, Lolegaon famous tourist spots are only again within three hours drive. To the North is 'Dooars' meaning door to Bhutan. Dooars is famous for numerous Tea Gardens producing world class CTC Tea, Gorumara National Forest and Jaldapara Sanctuary.

One can have full view of Mt. Kunchenjangha the third highest peak in the Himalyalas from the college campus. To the East, is the mighty river Teesta. The river Karala flows on the Western boundary of the campus. To the South is the lifeline of the North-East, the National Highway Number 31A.

Air: The nearest airport is 'Bagdogra' only 65 km fropm the college campus. Bagdogra is well connected to both Delhi and Kolkata with daily flights by 'Kingfisher', 'Jet Airways', 'Air Deccan' and thrice a week by 'Indian Airlines'. Bagdogra is also connected to Guwahati with daily flghts by 'Jet Airways' and thrice a week by 'Indian Airlines'.

Railways: The nearest railway station is Jalpaiguri Road (JPE). However, many you can also get down at the Jalpaiguri Town station (JPG) or the New Jalpaiguri station (NJP).

Roadways: NBSTC, CSTC, ITDC and a number of private operators regularly ply buses between the Tenzing Norgay bus terminus at Siliguri and the bus terminuses at Esplanade, Ultadanga and Durgapur. Buses leave from Tenzing Norgay bus terminus for Jalpaiguri at regular intervals of 10 to 15 minutes. Any of these can be availed of to reach Jalpaiguri town. After that, rickshaws can ferry you to the college campus. Alternatively, one can board any bus on one of the following routes and be dropped off at the college gate directly.

These bus routes are:

  • Siliguri - Coochbehar
  • Siliguri - Mainaguri
  • Siliguri - Mathabhanga
  • Siliguri - Falakata
  • Siliguri - Alipurduar

A direct bus service run by NBSTC between Esplanade and Jalpaiguri is also available.

Rules & Regulations

  • Registration Fee is Rs. 200 with additional Rs. 50 as security deposit per participant from 9th-11th October. The security money will be refunded as soon as the fest gets over.
  • Food will be available at canteens with additional charges.
  • Participants will be picked from nearby railway stations. Accomodation will be free and on the first come first serve basis.
  • Smoking and drinking is strictly prohibited inside the campus. If any participant is caught with alcohols/cigarettes by the security cell in the campus, their goods would be confiscated and the person would be heavily charged (upto Rs.1500).
  • You will be issued a Sristi I-Card when you reach JGEC campus. You are advised to keep this I-Card along with the institute I-Card with you at all times during the two days of the festival. Without your institute I-Card your Sristi I-Card will be considered invalid.
  • For all the events the decision taken by the respective judges/organizers would be final.
  • In event of any untoward incident (damaging, stealing institute's property etc) or misbehaviour of any kind, Sristi team reserves the right to take any punitive action as deemed necessary, even to the extent of cancelling the participation of the concerned college, escorting them off the campus and sending a report of misconduct to the head of the concerned institution.
  • You are provided with a list of important phone numbers of all the coordinators. In case of emergency feel free to contact any of the concerned coordinator.
  • Keep the campus neat and clean, use dustbins to throw wastes.
  • Please maintain silence at night especially in residential areas.
  • Each participant is responsible for the security of his/her stuff.
